Before Noah entered the ark, God told him 7 days in advance that the flood rains were about to destroy the living from off the face of the earth:
Later in the Bible, God speaks about the flood in the context of the end of the world. And in this connection He equates a day with a thousand year period:
Thus, the 7-day advance warning to Noah about the flood was also a 7,000-year advance warning concerning the end of the world. We are almost at that 7,000 years. May 21, 2011 will be the 7,000th anniversary of the flood of Noah's day.
Only Noah and his family who were on the ark heeded God's warning. The rest of mankind perished.

The nature of the Great (or Final) Tribulation Period is not political and economic. It is not based upon events in the Middle East, or characterized by having some mark or chip in order to buy and sell. It is spiritual in nature, related to God's judgment upon the Christian churches prior to judgment upon and the destruction of the entire creation:

These are all man-made institutions and aspirations which do not find their source in the Scriptures alone.
